James finishes the score to a documentary for ESPN about Richard Flowers. Flowers was an Olympic track hopeful that tore his hamstring shortly before the tryouts. This project will air this summer on the ESPN Classic channel.
James begins the score to a documentary for National Geographic about the life of Dean Kamen. Dean is an eccentric scientist/inventor from Massachusetts that has created extremely ingenious mechanical products. This is juxtaposed with Dean’s eccentricities and unusual way of living life. This film is directed by Eitan Weinreich and is due to be completed at the end of the first week in July.
James has just completed the score to Untitled 003: Embryo. This film, directed by Mike Geodecke, can be seen at the Promax/BDA convention at the Los Angeles Convention center from June 26th to the 29th. The film is about an agoraphobic man, Jason, who receives a box on his doorstep that he has not ordered. The box contains a ‘Dream Machine’ that can steal dreams from the victims that place the ‘Dream Helmet’ on their heads. The film is adorned with fantastic digitally animated dream sequences that allow the audience to view the innermost thoughts of the victims.
James begins writing music for an ESPN special on Steve Carlton. This show is due to air this summer. Check ESPN.com for showtimes.
James has begun the score to the Belief production of Untitiled 003: Embryo. This is the third installment of the experimental Untitled series from Belief. Embryo is the first narrative film in the series and is due to be completed at the end of June. This film is directed by Mike Goedecke and produced by Kane Roberts.
James has completed a documentary for National Geographic titled “Ascent: The Story of Hugh Herr”. This film is directed by Brian Knappenberger and produced by Jonathan Grupper. “Ascent” will debut on August 18th, 2002 on the National Geographic channel. Hugh Herr is a double amputee that has turned his life into a quest to ‘rehabilitate’ and improve on the abilities of humans.
James returns from the Cannes Film Festival after performing the score to Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron live at the Palais de Festival with Hans Zimmer and Bryan Adams. The performance received a 15 min. standing ovation.
James has finished writing additional music and arranging on the Dreamworks film Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron.
James finishes the score for Area 52 directed by Adam Turner. This film, for the Sci-Fi network, stars Fred Savage and Ray Baker. This comedy, written by Adam Goldberg debuts on the Sci-Fi channel in April.
James completes work on the film Black Hawk Down with Hans Zimmer. The film, directed by Ridley Scott, has an extraordinary score to accompany this endeavor. The film will release this winter.
